Having suffered an injury against Chelsea, David Alaba is now a big doubt for the Copa Del Rey final and the UCL semi final 1st leg

(Football news) David Alaba has been troubled by injuries this season. The Austrian has already missed 13 matches due to injuries this season. Alaba did return from injury after the international break and has been playing well. In the 2nd leg against Chelsea, the defender was taken off at half time and Carlo Ancelotti confirmed after the match that he was injured.

David Alaba is now likely to miss the Copa Del Rey final against Osasuna and is a massive doubt for the 1st leg of the semi final against Manchester City. To make matters worse Eder Militao is suspended for the 1st which means that in case Alaba doesn’t recover in time Real Madrid will have only Nacho, Antonio Rudiger and Jesus Vallejo as options which is far from ideal.

Now Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger will also get less rest in La Liga. With regards to the Copa Del Rey Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger isn’t a bad partnership. However the pair don’t have the ball playing and ball carrying ability that David Alaba possesses. Even last season Alaba missed some UCL games which made Real Madrid vulnerable at the back. This year they do have Antonio Rudiger but at the same time they don’t have Casemiro sitting in front of the back line. Carlo Ancelotti and everyone at Real Madrid will be hoping and praying that David Alaba gets fit at least before the game against Manchester City.

Carlo Ancelotti is already coping with the absence of Ferland Mendy. Eduardo Camavinga is having to play at left back which gives Real Madrid one less option in midfield. David Alaba is an even bigger miss because of his leadership qualities. Despite being a Madrid player for just a season and a half David Alaba is already a leader on and off the pitch. In other players will have to be more vocal especially when things aren’t going Real Madrid’s way. Ideally Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao should play in Alaba’s absence while the ever reliable Nacho can always step in when needed.
