Mustafizur cleared to join DC for remaining IPL 2025 league games

Good news for Delhi Capitals (DC) fans! The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially granted Mustafizur Rahman a no-objection certificate, allowing him to join the franchise for the remainder of their IPL 2025 league matches, specifically from May 18th to May 24th.

This availability means Mustafizur can fill the void left by Mitchell Starc and participate in DC’s three remaining league-stage games. However, the BCB has clarified that he will not be available for the playoffs, should DC qualify. Mustafizur is scheduled to play Bangladesh’s first T20I against UAE in Sharjah on Saturday before heading to India. It remains uncertain whether he will be ready to play immediately upon his arrival in India on May 18th for DC’s game that same evening.

Earlier in the week, there was a slight hiccup regarding Mustafizur’s participation, with the IPL and DC announcing his signing, but the BCB stated they had not yet received a request for a NOC. This issue has now been resolved.

In other team news for DC, Mitchell Starc has confirmed he will not be returning to India for the rest of the IPL 2025 season. Donovan Ferreira, who played one game this season, will also not be rejoining the squad. This decision allows Starc to focus fully on preparing for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Notably, Starc is currently DC’s leading wicket-taker this season with 14 wickets in 11 matches.

Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs have confirmed their return to DC. However, Stubbs will only be available for the remaining league games before departing for the WTC final.
