Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named captain of the India A squad for their upcoming tour of England, which includes two first-class matches against England A. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will serve as his deputy in the 18-member team that also features Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, and Karun Nair.

Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan are scheduled to join the India A squad ahead of the second first-class match.

The squad includes two wicketkeeper-batters: Jurel and Ishan Kishan. Both were part of the India A team that played two unofficial Tests in Australia during the 2024-25 season.

The fast-bowling department for the England tour is well-stocked, comprising Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Tushar Deshpande, and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. The spin options include left-arm spinners Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey, along with off-spinner Tanush Kotian.

The series against England A marks a significant opportunity for the 33-year-old Karun Nair to potentially return to the national side. His last Test appearance was in 2017, but he has been in excellent form in domestic cricket, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer for Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha in 2024-25 with 863 runs. He also had a productive stint in county cricket for Northamptonshire in 2023 and 2024.

The first first-class match against England A will begin on May 30th in Canterbury, followed by the second match starting on June 6th in Northampton. After the England A series, the India A team will also play a four-day fixture against the senior India side starting on June 13th.
