Is the Premier League way ahead of La Liga in terms of quality?

La Liga teams have gotten the better Premier League teams a lot of times despite the general acceptance that the Premier League is superior
La Liga Premier League

(Football news) A very popular belief around the footballing world is that La Liga is falling off. While that may be true to a certain extent, it isn’t as bad as it may seem. Manchester United were knocked out of the Europa League quarter finals by Sevilla who are currently 13th in La Liga and could still get relegated. The English gaints who are currently 3rd in the league were not only beaten, they were beaten convincingly. In terms of finances, the Premier League is way ahead of La Liga and all the other leagues. However in terms of talent and quality the Premier League isn’t too far ahead of the other leagues or ahead at all.

The Premier League is actually very reliant on foreign players and foreign managers. Ever since the inception of the Premier League in 1992 no English manager has ever won the Premier League. None of the top teams in the league actually appoint English managers. Spain and Germany are the countries where most managers come from. The Premier League’s financial power allows them to pick the best players of the other leagues. However they rarely export homegrown players to other countries. Since 2000 only 5 Premier League teams have won the UEFA Champions League while La Liga have won it 10 times.

In the Europa League, English teams have been winners only 4 times since 2000 while Spanish have won it 11 times. The pull power of Spanish clubs such as Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is still massive. Real Madrid signed the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Aurélien Tchouaméni and David Alaba who had better financial offers from England. The same with Barcelona who signed Raphinha, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen despite stiff competition. The myth of the Premier League being better than La Liga is just because of the power of English media who hype up the league and the players.
