La Liga Barcelona

(Football news) Barcelona are flying in La Liga having won 10 of their last 11 games while the other one was a draw. They are currently 8 points clear of defending champions Real Madrid. Now with Los Blancos playing the FIFA Club World Cup, Barcelona have an opportunity to go 11 points clear. The psychological advantage that will give for Barcelona will be massive. It will be a difficult task as they will take on Villarreal at their fortress La Ceramica. The Yellow Submarine are currently 6th on the table having lost their last two games.

Villarreal coach Quique Setien had a short unsuccessful stint at Barcelona and will have a point to prove. Ousmane Dembele is still absent for Barcelona due to injury while Sergio Busquets is also out after suffering an ankle injury against Sevilla. It will be interesting to see what system Xavi goes with in absence of both Busquets and Dembele. Villarreal on the other hand will be without striker Nicolas Jackson while Giovanni Lo Celso and Alfonso Pedraza are doubtful.

Atletico Madrid conceded an 83rd minute equaliser at home against Getafe as the game ended 1-1. Thankfully for them Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Villarreal lost their games hence it didn’t affect the Rojiblancos as much. Now they will be looking to get back to winning ways as they take on Celta Vigo away from home. Celta are currently 12th on the La Liga table and they have won their last two games as well. They will be without the suspended Unai Nunez and the injured Agustin Marchesin. Atletico Madrid on the other hand will be missing Stefan Savic.
