Aston Martin: Stroll crash demonstrates F1 dedication, not recklessness

According to Aston Martin Formula 1 team boss Mike Krack, Lance Stroll's devastating Singapore qualifying collision that forced him to retire from the race proved naysayers wrong and highlights his devotion.

(Motorsports news) Stroll thought his final flying lap in Q1 had been significantly hampered by poor tyre preparation, traffic, and filthy air. This inspired the Canadian to’send it’ into the last Marina Bay corners. However, as he ran over the exit curb, the rear of his AMR23 stepped out, and he speared into the outside wall before the wreckage slid back across the course, resulting in a red flag stoppage.

While Stroll was cleared of injury following a precautionary assessment in the medical center, he and the team “together” decided to withdraw from the race on Sunday morning. But, ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix in late August, Stroll, whose father Lawrence owns Aston Martin, was obliged to dismiss rumors that he was planning to leave F1 to pursue a tennis career.

Aston Martin Group CEO Martin Whitmarsh is said to have inquired about Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris’ interest in joining Fernando Alonso’s team. “Lance is very strong,” Krack noted. He’s far more powerful than most people realize. “You’ve seen him [doing media duties after his accident].” I’m not worried at all… He’ll be just fine.”

Stroll completed all main and secondary FIA testing and was cleared to compete, however talks with Aston Martin on Sunday morning resulted in his withdrawal. However, Krack claims that Stroll has “zero” chance of missing the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. “He is generally sore,” he continued.

If you have an incidence like that, you have to believe that you are stressing your muscles all over the place. “It’s like after a long day at the gym, you don’t feel great. I believe it is the correct decision to prepare for Japan. “What matters most is that he’s okay. Everything else is incidental. The AMR23’s chassis was recoverable, and Aston Martin claims it has budgeted for a massive crash repair operation.
