Noor Ali Zadran announces retirement from international cricket

(Cricket News) Noor Ali Zadran, the batter from Afghanistan has called time to his international career on Thursday (i.e, 7th March). He was recently part of the Afghanistan’s one-off test against Ireland and has surprised many announcing his sudden retirement.

Noor had a career which went on for over a decade. His journey began in 2009 when Afghanistan played their inaugural ODI against Scotland. He played an exceptional knock of 45 from just 28 balls, to set the stage for victory for his team.

Noor represented Afghanistan in a total of 2 Tests, 51 ODIs and 23 T20s. He scored over 1200 runs in the ODIs which included 7 fifties and a solitary century. He also averaged close to 27 in the shortest format of the game.

His test debut happened to be in the previous month itself, when he played in the one-off test match against Sri Lanka. He scored an impressive 47 in the second innings of his first test match.

In his long career, one of his major career highlights was the half-century which he scored against India in the 2010 T20 World Cup. He earned a comeback to the national side in 2023, when he was added in the Afghanistan’s squad for the Asian games. His good performances their eventually helped his team to the finals of the tournament.
