(Cricket News) Gujarat Giants’ all-rounder Harleen Deol has been ruled out of the remainder of the Women Premier league 2024 with a knee injury. Bharti Fulmali, the Vidarbha batter has been called in as her replacement for the Delhi-leg of the tournament.
Harleen already had her knee strapped heavily and further worsened the condition by hurting it while fielding against the UP Warriorz. She has been out of action since, and was seen in the sidelines during the Giants’ game in Delhi.
Harleen’s absence from the WPL is a huge blow for the Giants side, that has already been fretting with several injury concerns and are in a loosing streak, loosing their first 4 games. However the side has managed to register their first victory of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Giants have missed their vice-captain Sneh Rana in the previous few games due to an undisclosed illness. They also suffered a major blow even before the start of the season when the uncapped fast-bowling sensation Kashvee Gautam was ruled out of the entire season with an injury. Australia’s Lauren Cheatle recently underwent a medical procedure for the removal of skin cancer on her neck and withdrew from WPL 2024 as well.
Gujarat Giants has not been at their best up till now and would want to turn the tables around, winning the rest of their games, to allow themselves with a good chance of qualifying for the playoffs. The change of venue has brought in some good luck for their side and they would hope the luck continues to favor them going ahead.
