According to reports, Manchester United and Bayern Munich's Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are still in talks about a double swoop
Manchester

(Football news) Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, who were signed by the Red Devils from Lille and Bologna, respectively, have already added strength to their squad ahead of the 2024–25 campaign.

Manchester United still needs to add a few more players to strengthen their backline, even with Yoro’s addition to their defensive options.

De Ligt, who played for Ajax under Erik ten Hag before, has been strongly linked to a deal with the 20-time English champions.

Real Madrid, the powerful Spanish team, poses a threat to Manchester United, who have yet to match Bayern’s €50 million (£42 million) value.

Manchester United remain in talks to sign De Ligt, Mazraoui

The Red Devils are also pushing to sign Mazraoui after hijacking West Ham United’s attempts to recruit the Morocco international.

Like De Ligt, Mazraoui previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax and is seemingly keen to reunite with his former boss at Old Trafford.

While no deals have been finalised, Manchester United are still in discussions to sign both De Ligt and Mazraoui this summer. The update suggests the Red Devils remain in contact with agent Rafaela Pimenta, who represents both De Ligt and Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka impacting Mazraoui pursuit

While De Ligt would strengthen Man United’s central defensive options, Mazraoui is viewed as a potential replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

As a result, there is a belief that Manchester United will not finalise a deal for Mazraoui until they have found Wan-Bissaka a new home.

The Red Devils are believed to be looking for around £15m for Wan-Bissaka, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract.

West Ham United are among the right-back’s suitors after being forced to give up their pursuit of Mazraoui following Manchester United’s interest.
