Figo Backs Ancelotti, Criticizes Vini

With a goal from Valverde (1-0) in injury time to break the tie against Athletic Bilbao in their La Liga home game, Real Madrid once again struggled with their results.  Luís Figo, a former Madrid player, offered his thoughts on the team’s performance as well as Vinícius’s actions, as the Brazilian managed to argue with his own supporters.

Vinícius?  I don’t like to get involved in things I haven’t seen happen, and I didn’t see what happened, to be honest.  However, I am aware that you should never argue with your own supporters.  Marca cited the Portuguese as saying, “You just need to perform well so that people are satisfied with you if you want them to support you.”

Florentino Pérez is mostly responsible for this query.  Since I’ve played football for a long time, I can honestly say that people forget things easily and that the most recent performance is what counts.  I think it’s rather odd that a coach like Ancelotti is being questioned, maybe because this is ‘Real’.

It seems strange to me that the coach’s future was the only topic of discussion during the news conference immediately following the Champions League play against Arsenal.  I believe it is impossible to win every football game, even as someone who has won everything that can be won and consistently demonstrates his value as a coach.  Such a mindset shocked me greatly.
