(Football news) Pep Guardiola has lost two crucial players this summer in Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, and while City has signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, they are still looking for more attacking options.

Meanwhile, Paqueta has impressed in his first season at West Ham after joining from Lyon for £51 million a year ago.

City have now presented a £70 million deal for the Brazilian midfielder, but West Ham are poised to reject the offer and want a larger cost.According to the article, Guardiola was interested in signing Paqueta last summer as a potential successor for Bernardo Silva, but the Portugal international ended up staying at City.

This summer, Silva remains one of Barcelona’s top transfer targets, but he is now pondering a new contract offer from City, who are anxious to keep him. Paqueta chose the Etihad Stadium as his favourite ground to play at in his maiden season in the Premier League in an interview with Betway Brasil last week.

And when asked which players impressed him, Paqueta replied: ‘Bernardo Silva and [Kevin] De Bruyne.

‘By the way they see and understand the game. The intelligence in the passes, knowing when to speed up the game and hold on longer. Ease of finding passes. I think I identify with them.’
