Fazza Para Badminton: India Bags 19 Medals

In the men’s doubles SH6 final, first seed opponents Chu Man Kai and Wong Chun Yim of Hong Kong easily defeated Sivarajan Solaimalai and Sudarsan Saravanakumar Muthusamy, who took home the single gold medal from the tournament.

 At the 6th Fazza Para Badminton International competition in Dubai, Indian shuttlers took home 19 medals, including a gold, four silver, and 14 bronze.

In the men’s doubles SH6 finals on Sunday, top seed opponents Chu Man Kai and Wong Chun Yim of Hong Kong easily defeated Sivarajan Solaimalai and Sudarsan Saravanakumar Muthusamy, who took home the solitary gold medal in the championships.

In two of his Standing Lower SL3 singles and men’s doubles finals, seasoned shuttler Umesh Vikram Kumar had to settle for silver, while in the men’s double Standing Upper SU5 finals, Hardik Makkar and Ruthick Ragupathi lost hard to top-seeded Malaysian Cheah Like Hou and Muhammad Fareez Anuar.

After losing against Vitor Tavares of Brazil in the semifinal, Kyoto Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar finished with a bronze medal.  In recognition of their unwavering efforts to protect the country, he donated his medal to the Indian armed services.

 This award honors the courageous men and women in uniform who toil diligently day and night to defend our nation.  Their bravery inspires me to continue battling on the court,” he remarked.
