Madhya Pradesh dominates Day 1 of the Ranji Semi-finals

(Cricket news) Vidarbha after winning the toss, could not capitalize, giving Madhya Pradesh an upper hand at the end of first days play. The home team were rattled by some exceptional bowling from the Madhya Pradesh’s bowler as they were bowled out for just 170. Avesh Khan led the attack for the MP and scalped 4 wickets.

Avesh inflicted the first blow for the Vidarbha, dismissing their opener Dhruv Shorey early. Taide the other other opener was looking good but failed to score big, as he was dismissed by Venkatesh Iyer for 39. Mokhade did not have a very great stay at the crease as well. He hung around for 75 deliveries, but was eventually dismissed by Avesh, to hand Vidarbha their 3rd blow for just 77 runs.

None of the batters for the host looked settled. They kept loosing wickets in frequent intervals and were reduced to 137/8. A valuable 33-run helped Vidarbha to 170. Karun Nair fought alone and scored a gritty 63 off 105 balls. Avesh Khan picked up 4 wickets, while Kehjroliya and Iyer scalped 2 each. Anubhav Agarwal got a solitary wicket as well.

Madhya Pradesh coming into bat late in the day managed to add 47 runs. However they also lost 1 wicket in the process, in the form of Yash Dubey. Himanshu Mantri and Harsh Gawli further ensured that there were no more damage to their side.
