Afghanistan announces squad for ODIs against Ireland

(Cricket News) Afghanistan announced their squad to face Ireland in the three match ODI series. Mystery spinner Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar and left-arm spin-bowling allrounder Nangeyalia Kharote have been brought into the Afghanistan senior side. Both were a part of Afghanistan’s U19 World Cup campaign.

Fast bowler Bilal Sami has also been added to the squad for the upcoming series. Sami has been a part of the Afghanistan setup recently and now would be well in line to make a debut for his nation. He has played 10 List A games, picking up 23 wickets at an average of 21.60.

Afghanistan however will miss the services of two of their prime bowlers, Mujeeb and Rashid. Bothe the spinners are not a part of the squad. Rashid is recovering from a back surgery, while Mujeeb is nursing a right phalanx sprain.

“Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman continue to recover from their respective injuries and are unavailable for selection. However, we have included some of the top-performing youngsters in Nangyal Kharoti and Bilal Sami. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a very talented cricketer and has demonstrated excellent skills during the U19 World Cup. He will provide cover for Mujeeb Ur Rahman,” said ACB chief selector Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil.

The series will begin on the 7th of March, followed by games on 9th and 12th. All the games will be played in Sharjah.
