Pat Cummins likely to be the new SRH captain

(Cricket News) The Australian World Cup winning skipper Pat Cummins may replace Aiden Markram as the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The franchise acquired the Australian skipper for a whopping 20.5 crore INR, and is now keen to make him the captain.

Cummins is highly respected as a leader in International cricket. He is also fresh from a world cup title, that he lifted against India, in India. Australia has also won a World Test Championship under Cummins. He also has a very good record when it comes to captaincy. He has led Australia in 26 Tests and 15 ODIs so far.

Aiden Markram has led the SRH side in the last two IPL seasons and hasn’t tasted a lot of success thus far. However he has led the subsidiary side of SRH in the SA20 to back-to-back titles in the league’s 2 year history, which provides him with an edge.

Cummins recent success and also his association with Daniel Vettori, who is the head coach of SRH might well lead to the decision of him being the new skipper for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Dale Steyn might not a part of the SRH campaign, as their bowling coach this year. He is seeking for a rest from the this years IPL and is expected to return next year. In that case the franchise would require a bowling coach to assist the side in this edition of the Indian Premier league.
