Luka magic sinks the Nets, Warriors get a comfortable win over the Heats

(Basketball news) Dallas Maverick rode on Luka Doncic brilliance as they went on to beat the Brooklyn Nets 129-125 in overtime. For the Mavericks, Doncic had 41 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds as Doncic’s two baskets in overtime helped him become the 10th player in NBA history with three 40-point triple-doubles, while Hardaway scored 18 points. For the Nets, Kyrie Irving scored 39 points and Kevin Durant had 37 points as Simmons finished with seven points, eight rebounds and four assists. Steven Nash’s side suffered their 4th defeat in a row.

''We're just trying to do the best we can to make his job a lot easier out there on the floor when he gives the ball up, and the only way you can do that is knock down shots and take them with confidence and make a play,'' Tim Hardaway Jr. said.

''Obviously, Luka is probably the best guy to make tough shots and make shots when they count, but he also knows when to make the right basketball plays,'' Kleber said. ''And especially when we came into overtime, they were like really aggressive with him and he made the right play, I don't know, three or four times in a row. We just got hot and made all those shots.''

''When we attack the paint, we're a very dangerous team,'' Doncic said.

The Golden State Warriors continued their fine start to the season as they beat the Miami Heat 123-110. For the Warriors, Curry scored 10 of his 33 points in a tight fourth quarter to go with nine assists and seven rebounds, while Andrew Wiggins added 18 points and 10 rebounds as Klay Thompson had 19 points with five 3s. For the Heats, Jimmy Butler scored 27 points, Adebayo had 26 points and Kyle Lowry added 12 points and eight assists. With this victory the Warriors have now won 3 matches in quick succession.

''I thought it was our best defensive game, which isn't saying much given the other four. It just felt like a more typical Warriors performance where we were getting stops consistently and then getting out and running,'' coach Steve Kerr said. ''… Other than a few careless turnovers I thought it was the best we've played at both ends, and of course Steph was just sublime. What he's doing is incredible. He just gets by anybody. It doesn't matter who's on him, he gets right into the teeth of the defense, finishes, finds guys. He's been spectacular here to start the year.''

''It was a great move,'' teammate Draymond Green said. ''He got to the spot that he wanted. Once he got Tyler to open his back leg up, he was kind of dead at that point. Steph is incredible and he's playing great to start this year off, which is expected. He continues to improve, which is scary that that guy continues to get better. It's pretty interesting and fun to watch.''
