Will Jules Kounde’s injury affect his potential transfer to Chelsea?

(Football news) France were defeated 1-0 by Croatia in the UEFA Nations League clash. Luka Modric's penalty in the 5th minute was enough to give Croatia the 3 points. France are now 4th spot on their Nations League table which is very worrying for Didier Deschamps. What is slightly more worrying is that Jules Kounde had to be replaced at half time. After the match Deschamps said ''Tomorrow Kounde will surgery because he has a problem that has been going on for several months.''

The news will be very concerning for Chelsea who have been linked with Kounde for a long time. Reports suggest that Thomas Tuchel is really keen on signing the player but his surgery will make things more and more complicated. Chelsea will be taking a very big risk by signing Kounde in the middle of his recovery. The Blues might be able to get him at a cheaper price depending on the extent of his injury. Sevilla will definitely not let Kounde go easily considering the fact that they have already sold Diego Carlos to Aston Villa. After the surgery the time table of Kounde's recovery will be set which could well determine his future. The likelihood is that he will have to wait another year to make a move away from Sevilla.

Kounde has been an incredible asset to Sevilla ever since his transfer from Bordeaux in 2017. The Frenchman's biggest strength is his pace and agility which makes him a versatile defender. Kounde can play centre back as well as right back. He is one of the most technically gifted defenders in the world as his creativity is something not many defenders have. Chelsea have already lost Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid while Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen are heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. Kounde would be a perfect signing for the Blues but his injury plants a few doubts.
