Danjuma joins Everton on loan

(Football news) Frank Lampard, whose job is under threat, has called for strengthening his attack with Everton languishing in the relegation zone and with their current form it looks like they will get relegated. Toffees fend off competition to get winger in on loan after interest from other Premier League clubs and big European clubs. Ultimately Arnaut Danjuma has decided to join Everton on loan until end of season. The 25-year-old is in England this week for talks with other Premier League clubs as the former club Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest both were interested in the Dutch winger but he has opted for Everton.

It’s going to be a straight loan deal with no obligation to buy in the summer and Danjuma is in Merseyside to finalise the deal and complete his medical. Everton played West Ham and lost to them as they have scored only four goals in their current seven-game winless run but they have been looking to strengthen in their forward areas. Everton are yet to sign any new players this month, whereas their Premier League relegation rivals Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Southampton, have been very busy during the current window.

Arnaut Danjuma returns to England from Villarreal until the end of the season. Danjuma joined Villarreal for £21.3m in August 2021 after he scored 15 goals in the Championship for Bournemouth. He was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season as well as winning the club’s player of the year award. The 25-year-old has six goals in all competitions this season for Villarreal. It remains to be seen whether he can be an upgrade on the likes of Anthony Gordon and Neal Maupay.

Danjuma was a very important player for Villarreal last season where he scored 16 goals across all competitions. However, things have not gone according to plan for him this year as he has fallen out of favour at the Villarreal. His relationship with his Villarreal teammates deteriorated as the Spanish clubs were very keen to part ways with him. The player has been offered to other Premier League clubs this month but he chose to come to Everton and help them survive in the Premier League.

Toffees boss Frank Lampard said on Friday: “We absolutely want to help the squad and make it stronger. I’m aware everyone’s trying to do the same thing and teams around us are. We know we need more competition, maybe a more clinical nature about us. That’s a reality we have to understand.”
