(Basketball news) The NBA season of 2023–24 won’t be short of contenders. While emerging clubs like the Kings, Knicks, and Cavaliers aim to enter the race following their success last season, the Heat, Bucks, Celtics, Warriors, Lakers, and Suns continue to be contenders.
There is still work to be done that might change the championship odds, with Damian Lillard and James Harden’s futures being the most important. Both players have asked to be traded. At the end of October, when the season kicks off with a star-studded opening night, everything begins to happen.
When does the NBA season start for 2023-24?
On October 24, 2023, the inaugural games for the 2023–24 season will take place. On the first night, there will be two games. Before the whole schedule was made public, Shams Charania of The Athletic first reported that the Lakers would play the Nuggets while the Suns would host the Warriors.
Given the history involved, it’s not surprising that the NBA chose that course of action. In the Western Conference Finals from the previous season, the Lakers and Nuggets met. The Nuggets overcame the Lakers in four games thanks in large part to Nikola Jokic, who in the series averaged 27.8 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 11.8 assists. They then went on to the NBA Finals where they won their first championship as a team.
The Suns star Kevin Durant, who won two titles with the Warriors, will play in the other game at Golden State. It will be the first chance to view the Suns in their new look. The Suns have changed their head coach, and one of the biggest deals of the season was the acquisition of Bradley Beal.
Additionally, Chris Paul, who took part in the Beal trade, will be playing for the Warriors for the first time.
