(Football news) The Hammers also go into this game having drawn 1-1 at home last Saturday against Crystal Palace. Last Sunday, many doubted if an injured Tottenham team could compete away from home against the defending Premier League champions, Manchester City. However, Ange Postecoglou’s team brilliantly held their own and managed to steal a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Before Phil Foden gave Man City the lead, Son Heung-min scored odd goals on both ends in the first eight minutes. However, Spurs rallied and equalized on the 65th minute through a lovely goal from Giovani Lo Celso, his second in as many games.

Nine minutes from time, Grealish looked to have given the Citizens the lead with a goal, but Kulusevski had the last laugh, heading home an equalizer in the ninetieth minute after rising above Ake at the back post. Later, Spurs gained momentum from Simon Hooper’s controversial decision to blow the whistle for a foul on Erling Haaland when Grealish broke through on goal in stoppage time, setting off a furious response from the home team.

Although Tottenham is still fifth in the Premier League, they are only two points behind Aston Villa in fourth, and six points separate them from North London rivals Arsenal at the top. Postecoglou praised Tottenham’s “conviction” in the second half to grind out a positive result and avoid a fourth consecutive loss.

Tottenham, who has dropped its last two home games against Chelsea and Aston Villa, is now preparing for back-to-back games in North London over the course of three days against West Ham and sixth-place Newcastle United. They will be hoping to snap their winless streak against the Hammers on Thursday, as they have triumphed in four of their previous five home games against them in all competitions, including the last three by an aggregate score of 7-2.

After being forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Crystal Palace last weekend, West Ham’s four-game winning streak across all competitions has come to an end.
