(Football news) Arnaut Danjuma, who has been a key Villarreal player for a while, came close to leaving the club last summer but ended up staying. This season’s game time was reduced and many clubs were interested in his services. Everton reached an agreement with Villarreal for a loan offer till the end of the season. Personal terms were agreed shortly and Danjuma completed his medical along with his media duties. In a shocking turn of events Tottenham Hotspur at the last minute swooped in and signed Danjuma. The hijacking happened around the same time that Everton manager Frank Lampard was sacked which may have something to do with the players decision.

Danjuma is an agile striker who always makes things happen. He may not be one of the players who will score lots of goals but he makes others around him score goals. He could have been the player to get Everton out of relegation but now he will be hoping to be the player to get Tottenham Hotspur to the top 4. The decision from the players side is a surprising one as he would’ve got a lot more playing time at Everton whereas at Tottenham Hotspur he will have a lot of competition from Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

Everton now need to think fast to sign a replacement because they desperately need reinforcements. The club recently sacked Frank Lampard and are in talks with Marcelo Bielsa. The Toffees were also recently put on sale by the owners which is incredible news for the fans. It will be interesting to see how Everton operate in the transfer market. They are currently 19th on the table and 2 points off survival but their current form is not a good sign. The Merseyside club have won just 1 of their last 14 games.
