Tottenham Hotspur draw 2-2 away at Brentford as Harry Kane extends impressive Boxing day record
Ivan Toney Vs Tottenham Hotspur
Ivan Toney has now scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season

(Football news) Tottenham Hotspur have picked up exactly where they left off. Antonio Conte’s men have carried on their tradition of playing well only after conceding first. Tottenham Hotspur lined up in their regular 3-4-3 but regulars Ben Davies and Emerson Royale started on the bench. World Cup winner Cristian Romero and finalist Hugo Lloris were unavailable as they are yet to rejoin training. Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur will be out for a while with their respective injuries. Academy product Japhet Tanganga started at right centre back while Summer signing Yves Bissouma partnered Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in midfield. Fraser Forster started for the first time in the Premier League in Tottenham Hotspur colours.

Brentford started the game on the front foot as they opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Vitaly Janelt tapped the ball into the net as Forster fumbled after some pinball in the penalty area. Ivan Toney looked to have scored but the goal was disallowed for offside. At the beginning of the 2nd half Harry Kane went down the box after some pressure from Ben Mee but neither the referee nor VAR deemed it a foul. Moments later Eric Dier conceded a needless corner which led to Ivan Toney doubling the hosts lead.

Tottenham Hotspur had to throw everything and they did exactly that. Clement Lenglet played a pin point cross which was headed home by Harry Kane in the 61th minute. The goal was his 10th on boxing day which is more than any other player as he has now scored in every single boxing day match he has played in. Six minutes later Højbjerg scored his 5th goal of the season to make it 2-2. Harry Kane had a chance to win it at the death but could only manage to hit the crossbar as the match ended in a draw.
