Sarah Glenn ruled out of at least 4 games due to concussion

(Cricket News) The leg spinner from the England Women’s team, Sarah Glenn has been ruled out of at least four matches, which includes the ongoing T20I series, as well as the first two games of the ODI series against New Zealand, due to concussion.

Gleen will only become available again in time for the final match of the tour if her recovery goes forward according to the plan. She landed heavily after dropping a catch in the third T20I in Nelson. She wasn’t taken of the field and even bowled post the incident, but at the change of innings she was subbed out for Holly Armitage.

“She will now follow the ECB Graded Return to Play Protocols and will miss at least the fourth (27 March) and fifth (29 March) IT20 matches as well as the first two ODIs (1 April and 4 April),” an ECB statement said. “No replacement has been called up to the squad at this point.”

The injury forced her to miss the fourth T20I and would probably rule her out of at least 3 more games of the tour. England replaced Glenn with leading spinner Sophie Ecclestone in Wellington after the players who had featured in the WPL became available.

New Zealand, on the other hand also suffered a injury scare, after their captain Sophie Devine sustained a quad strain in Wellington which limited her to just a solitary over in the game and further did not bat.

“Probably just a small niggle,” Devine said at the post-match presentation. “Just looking ahead with the one-dayers being really important with WC [World Championship] points. I probably wanted to get back out there but someone with a bit more of a rational brain kept me off.”
