Rishabh Pant set to make a comeback in the IPL

(Cricket News) The star Indian keeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant is all set to make a comeback to professional cricket. He will most likely feature in the IPL 2024 as a batter and captain of the Delhi Capitals. Pant was actively involved in a practice match in Alur which is a very promising sign for recovery.

Pant suffered a fatal car accident on Dec 31st 2022 and has been away from the game since then. His road to recovery has been very promising and he is well in course to make a comeback after nearly 15 months. Reports suggest that he will feature for the Capitals as the skipper and will only play the role of a batter, with someone else keeping wickets.

Pant has been the skipper of the Delhi Capitals since 2021 and in his absence, it was David Warner who led the side. The Capitals missed his services to a large extent in the previous season, both as a batter as well as a captain.

Pant has been working with the Physios and management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore since a while now. Clearances from the NCA will allow him to be a part of the IPL 2024, making a return to the sport. Reports suggest that Pant’s mobility has not been hindered. His ability to run and bat with the same agility and freedom as before the accident.

IPL is likely to be played from the third week of the March till the end of May. However the schedule of the IPL is still not out, with the dates anticipated to be finalized following the announcement of the general election dates by the Election Commission of India.
