Kashvee Gautam, Kanika Ahuja ruled out of WPL 2024

(Cricket news) Kashvee Gautam, the uncapped Indian all-rounder has been ruled out of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. Kashvee was bought by the Gujarat Giants for a record 2 Crore in the auction previously, but she won’t feature in the tournament because of an injury.

Kashvee’s absence would be a major blow for her side Gujarat Giants. She had an amazing domestic season and was the most expensive Indian player of the WPL auction in December last year. She had a wonderful Senior Women’s trophy and was also a part of the India U23 squad which won the ACC Emerging tournament.

Sayali Satghare, another uncapped all-rounder has been named as her replacement at the Gujarat Giants. She is signed by the franchise for a reserve price of INR 10 Lakhs.

India’s spin bowling all-rounder Kanika Ahuja has also been ruled out of the tournament. Ahuja has been a part of the RCB set-up from the inaugural season last year. She howevere will miss this year’s WPL due to an injury.

Ahuja featured in 7 games for RCB in the previous season and showed a lot of promise. He scored 98 and took 2 wickets. She also played a major role for the Indian U23 team in the finals of the ACC Emerging tournament finals, which helped her side lift the title.

Shradda Pokharkar had been selected as Ahuja’s replacement. Pokharkar, a left-arm seamer from Maharashtra, was signed for a reserve price of INR 10 lakh. She was also one of the net bowlers for India for the T20Is against Australia in December 2022.
