(Football news) Real Madrid put on a show in Morocco to clinch the FIFA Club World Cup title. Los Blancos extended their record by winning the competition for the 5th time. Madrid won the semifinal against Al Ahyl 4-1 while they beat Al Hilal 5-3 in the final. This was Real Madrid’s 2nd trophy of the season after the UEFA Super Cup. Fede Valverde won the silver ball while Vinicius Jr won the golden ball which brings them back in form at a crucial point of the season.

Real Madrid have been struggling in the league as they find themselves 11 points behind league leaders FC Barcelona with a game in hand. Carlo Ancelotti visibly changed a couple of things tactically at the World Cup and the biggest one was that Vinicius Jr switched things up a little. The Brazilian usually hugs the left touchline and doesn’t really change his position much.

However in Morocco he drifted in field quite a few times to allow Eduardo Camavinga to overlap. On occasions Karim Benzema was playing as the right winger with Vinicius in the middle. This will definitely help them as opposition teams have been keeping him quiet by keeping 2-3 players on him. Now with him roaming around more, Vinicius will be more andorw lethal.

Real Madrid will be looking to put a little bit of pressure on FC Barcelona. It will take something special for Real Madrid to win the league from this position but then Real Madrid is a special club. They have a Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool as well. Last season Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup and that somewhat transformed their fortunes. Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that the same can happen with this Club World Cup triumph.
