(Football news) Real Madrid had an average campaign last season where they won the Copa Del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. Since then they have lost club captain Karim Benzema along with Marco Asensio, Mariano, and Eden Hazard. They have however signed Brahim Diaz, Fran Garcia, Joselu, Arda Guler, and most importantly Jude Bellingham.

Los Blancos are clearly lacking a world-class striker but apart from that, the team is looking very well-balanced. If Real Madrid pulls something out of the bag to sign Kylian Mbappe or any other world-class striker then the transfer window will be a massive success.

According to reliable reports in Spain, Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to switch formation to accommodate a four-man midfield. Real Madrid have Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos and Jude Bellingham in the squad.

Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler can also play in midfield so using 4 midfielders makes perfect sense. The two options would be either a flat 4-4-2 or a diamond formation. A diamond is probably the best option with Jude Bellingham at the tip. The best thing about this squad is that there is a lot of versatility which means that Ancelotti will have the option to try out different things.

The two up front will be Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for most of the time. The Brazilian pair have been excellent for Real Madrid over the past couple of years. However this time they won’t have Karim Benzema leading the attack. Their output will have to increase from both of them and that too significantly.

Last season’s struggles for Real Madrid were mainly defensive, so improving that will be high on the agenda list. The signing of Fran Garcia will help a lot but the right back area is still a little bit of concern. A lot will depend on Dani Carvajal’s form which hasn’t been the most consistent. Pre-season will be a good indication of things especially system and tactics wise.
