(Football news) Arsenal mean business this summer in terms of their squad development. The Gunners in the past one year period have extended the contracts of Gabriel Magalhães, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka. The club have now further secured their future further by extending William Saliba’s contract till 2027. The French defender’s last contract would have run out in 2024 but he has now committed his future to the club. In terms of new signings they have already secured Kai Havertz from Chelsea while Jurien Timber and Declan Rice are also on their way.

Arsenal lost the Premier League title race to Manchester City due to their lack of squad. They are moving quickly to sort that out but the contract extensions are just as important if not more. William Saliba was a rock at the back last season and it was his injury that started Arsenal’s downfall. Next season he will have Jurien Timber to compete with but that can make his performances even better. The next on Arsenal’s extension list is likely to be club captain Martin Odegaard whose contract runs out in 2025. The Gunners are showing that they want to back Mikel Arteta fully to let him build on last season.

The next on the agenda will definitely be another midfielder. As of now there are speculations on the future of Thomas Partey. If he does leave then Arsenal will have to look in the market for another midfielder. The fear among Arsenal fans was that last season was a one off thing but after the transfer activity this summer things are looking positive. The Gunners are returning to the Champions League for the first time since 2017. There is excitement around Arsenal which has been missing for a long time.
