Rachin, Kerr receives top honours at NZC Awards

(Cricket News) The Kiwi all-rounders Rachin Ravindra and Amelia Kerr emerged as the winners of the top honours at the New Zealand Cricket awards 2024. The ceremony was concluded on Wednesday evening at Christchurch.

Rachin became the youngest player to be awarded with the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal, which is presented to the best New Zealand cricketer of the year. He has been a star of the New Zealand side in the last year having performed exceptionally across formats. He also ended as the fourth-highest run-getter at the ICC Cricket World Cup last year in India.

On the other hand, Amelia Kerr grabbed the Debbie Hockley Medal for the second consecutive year. This particular medal is awarded to the best Women cricketer in New Zealand. In addition she also won the ODI and T20I Player of the Year awards. The all-rounder was the side’s leading ODI run-scorer with 541 runs at an average of 67. She was also the joint leading T20I wicket-taker and second highest T20 run scorer.

The Test Player of the Year was awarded to the veteran and the former captain Kane Williamson, while Daryl Mitchell was honoured by the ODI player of the year. Mitchell Santner won the T20Is award for the best player.

  • The Ruth Martin Cup for women’s domestic batting – Suzie Bates
  • The Winsor Cup for men’s first-class bowling – Matt Henry
  • The Phyl Blackler Cup for women’s domestic bowling – Emma Black
  • GJ Gardner Homes New Zealand Umpire of the Year – Chris Brown
