PV Sindhu brings home India's second Olympics medal

PV Sindhu, the sitting world champion, competed for the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics today against World No. 9 China's He Bingjiao and won by a clean sweep. She has become the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals.

The score was 21-13, 21-15 for the Indian in 53 minutes to win the bronze medal for India. Her second consecutive Olympic medal adding to her historic silver at 2016 Rio Games.

Indian men’s hockey team defeat Great Britain 3-1 to reach semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics

The Indian men’s hockey team made history after defeating Great Britain 3-1 to reach the semi-finals of the Olympic Games for the first time in 41 years. Dilpreet Singh opened the scoring for India in the 7th minute to give his side an early lead and Gurjant Singh doubled the scoring in the 16th minute with the score finishing 2-0 at the end of Q2 in the men’s hockey quarterfinal match.

However, Great Britain fought back and managed to salvage a goal at the end of the third quarter with Ward scoring through a penalty corner. Manpreet Singh got a yellow card with less than 7 minutes left and India was forced to play with one man less for the next five minutes. Hardik Singh managed to restore India’s two goal cushion with less than three minutes left to assure his side a semi-final clash against Belgium at the Tokyo Olympics.

Fouaad Mirza finishes 22nd in Cross Country at the Equestrian's Eventing competition

Astride Seigneur Medicott, Indian equestrian Fouaad Mirza finished 22nd in the Cross Country with a total penalty points of 39.20 (28.00 in Dressage and 11.20 in Cross Country). Mirza is India’s first equestrian to qualify for the Olympic Games in the last 20 years and managed to pick up 11.20 time penalties after a clear cross country round at Sea Forest Cross Country Course despite the tough competition. Mirza and Seigneur Medicott recorded a time of 8:12 despite the optimal course time of 7:45.

Bukhodir Jalolov beats Satish Kumar 5-0 in the Men's Super Heavyweight category

Indian Boxer Satish Kumar lost 5-0 to the reigning champion Bukhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan. India's hopes of winning a medal in men's individual boxing have been dashed. Satish Kumar lost a one-sided fight to Uzbek World Champion Jalaov in the men's super heavyweight (+91kg) category. The Indian tried his hardest to put on a bold show against the giant, but he lacked the rival's guile and determination.

Anirban Lahiri finishes 42nd as Xander Schauffele wins Olympic men's golf tournament

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri finished in 42nd place at the Kasumigaseki Country Club while countryman Udayan Mane finished 56th at the Tokyo Olympics. Meanwhile, 27 year old American golfer Xander Schauffele won the gold medal with a 4-under 67 in Sunday's final round to finish 18-under-par for the tournament.
