(Football News) Moises Caicedo’s future was a much-discussed topic in January. Chelsea had bid £55 million for the player but Brighton were quick to reject it. Arsenal joined the race and came up with a £60 million bid which was later increased to £70 million. Moises Caicedo publicly expressed his desire to take up the opportunity and leave.

Moises Caicedo even missed a couple of training sessions and an FA Cup game against Liverpool to try and force a move but Brighton refused to sell him. Manager Roberto De Zerbi handled the situation well as he publically and personally asked Caicedo to stay till the end of the season.

De Zerbi reportedly promised Moises Caicedo that he will let him leave in the summer. Arsenal who were supposed to be his destination have pulled out of the deal as they intend to focus on the signings of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz. That puts Chelsea as the firm favourites to sign the midfielder but it is still very early and other clubs could join the race soon. Brighton will reportedly ask for a minimum of £100 million for Caicedo who has a contract till 2027 with an option for a further year.
