(Football News) Kylian Mbappe just can’t seem to stay out of the limelight on and off the field. Last season was a difficult one for Paris Saint-Germain despite winning their 9th Ligue 1 in 11 years. PSG were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 for the 2nd season in a row while they also failed to get past the Coupe de France Round of 16.

There were off-the-field incidents where PSG booed star players Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi in and outside the stadium. There was clearly a need to change tactics at PSG and they took the first step by sacking Christophe Galtier. The one thing they didn’t expect is for the Kylian Mbappe-Real Madrid saga to ignite once again.

A few days ago Real Madrid president Perez was asked by a fan if he would sign Mbappe to which the Real Madrid president replied “Yes, but not this year”. Real Madrid signing Mbappe for free in 2024 was always on the cards but now a new door has opened.

Kylian Mbappe has sent an official letter confirming to PSG that he will not trigger the option to extend his contract till 2025. The letter has left PSG furious as Mbappe had time till August to decide and he also didn’t need to send a letter as he could’ve just informed them normally. The letter got leaked which is causing all these rumors which has angered PSG.

Real Madrid reportedly have all the things needed to sign Mbappe this summer. PSG’s position is that either Kylian Mbappe renews the contract or leaves for a high fee this summer. The option of him leaving for free next season isn’t even considered a possibility in Paris. The situation is completely different from last season because Kylian Mbappe wanted to leave then but now he has clearly said that he wants to stay next season. He added that the letter just confirmed what the club already knew in that he will not trigger the extension option.

PSG will now have to negotiate a completely new contract with Kylian Mbappe which could happen. If not then they will have to force the player to move to the highest bidder. Just like last season, this goes on till the deadline day. It wouldn’t be too outlandish to assume that Mbappe’s next club will be Real Madrid but the only question is when it will eventually happen. Real Madrid need a solution quickly because they desperately need a striker to replace Karim Benzema.
