(Football news) Mason Mount ends his 18-year relationship with Chelsea by joining Manchester United. The midfielder, who represents England internationally, leaves Stamford Bridge just 2 years after helping his team win the Champions League in 2021. Mount will don the renowned No. 7 jersey for Man Utd. Depending on performance and appearances over multiple seasons.

Mason Mount, 24, signed a five-year contract with Old Trafford that runs through the summer of 2028 and includes an option for an additional year. Mount joined United as their first summer addition, during his 18 years at Chelsea Mason Mount  won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

It’s never easy to leave the team where you grew up, but Manchester United will present a fascinating new challenge for the next stage of my career, said Mount, who will don United’s historic No. 7 shirt.

“Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies”, Mason Mount said. 

“Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead and am ready for the hard work expected here”.

In a social media video on Tuesday night, Mount said goodbye to Chelsea supporters. He departs Stamford Bridge with 195 appearances in all competitions, 33 goals, and 37 assists.
