Liverpool host Brentford in an attempt to stay in the top 4 race

Liverpool have a chance to go within 1 point of 4th placed Manchester United
Liverpool

(Football news) Liverpool have started playing some good football in this business end period of the season. They still have a chance of finishing in the top 4 despite not having the season. Liverpool will play Brentford at Anfield with the aim of going 1 point behind Manchester United. Brentford on the other hand are hoping to make a late dash for the European spots as they are currently 9th, 4 points behind 7th placed Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool lost the reverse fixture 3-1 so they will be looking for revenge as the Merseyside club are in much better form now.

Liverpool will once again be missing long term absentees Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin Ramsey while Thiago is also ruled out for the rest of the season. Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita are not fit enough yet but could return before the season ends. Jordan Henderson played 90 minutes against Fulham but he has suffered a knock which makes his availability doubtful. Brentford on the other hand Diogo Jota has been struggling with a rib injury so he is also a doubt. Brentford on the other hand will be without Pontus Jansson, Keane Lewis-Potter and Christian Norgaard. Kristoffer Ajer played a game for the under 21s a week ago and is in line to return.

Finishing in the top 4 would be great for Liverpool considering the kind of season they have had. It will help with the transfer market as Jurgen Klopp has already said that there will be quite a few signings in the summer especially in midfield. Brentford have been doing well since their return to the Premier League however now it is time for the next step and a European qualification will work perfectly for them. It will be a difficult task but a win at Anfield would swing things massively in their favour.
