Lingard linked to Nottingham Forest while West Ham await his decision

(Football news) Newly promoted Nottingham Forest have made a substantial offer for former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard who is now a free agent. The 29 year old has been heavily linked with West Ham, having had an impressive loan spell with the London based club in 2021, scoring nine goals and registering five assists. Lingard has offers from other clubs in the Premier League and abroad and it remains to be seen what choice he will be making.

Convincing Jesse Lingard to move to Nottingham Forest would be a major coup for Steve Cooper's side, having already signed Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi for a club-record £17.5m fee as well as Moussa Niakhate and Neco Williams for £17m. The club will begin their Premier League campaign against Newcastle on August 6th and have also signed Brandon Aguilera, Giulian Biancone, Omar Richards, Dean Henderson, Ryan Hammond and Wayne Hennessey so far.

As for West Ham, David Moyes’ side have had a relatively busy transfer window, signing defender Nayef Aguerd from Rennes for £30m, activating the option to buy goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for £7.75m from Paris Saint-Germain after the 29 year old had an impressive loan spell with the Hammers last season. The club were also linked to Chelsea’s Armando Broja but Thomas Tuchel reiterated that the forward is not for sale. West Ham are also in talks with Lille regarding a potential sale for midfielder Amadou Onana and are also in discussions with Sassuolo to sign striker Gianluca Scamacca.
