Does Memphis Depay have a future at FC Barcelona?

(Football news) Barcelona are having an incredible transfer window despite all the financial troubles. The catalan club have signed Andreas Christensen, Frank Kessie, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski while Ousmane Dembele signed a new contract. Jules Kounde is another player who is linked with a move to the Nou Camp. Barcelona's financial troubles are very well known at this point but the fact that they have signed these players shows that behind the scenes there is something which is sorted despite what the media is portraying. Naturally there will have to be sales to generate money. The Blaugrana  have already loaned out Clement Lenglet, Moussa Wague, and Francesco Trincao while they have let youngsters Arnau Comas and Rey Manaj leave for free. Ferran Jutgla was sold for £4.2m to Club Brugge.

Frenkie De Jong has been linked with a move to Manchester United as Barcelona need to sell him for financial purposes. Memphis Depay is another player who Barcelona reportedly want to sell in this transfer window. Depay was signed by Barcelona in 2021 for free from Olympic Lyon. His first season at Barcelona was a difficult one as he was troubled by injuries. Despite that he did score 12 goals in all competitions. Now Barcelona have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Ansu Fati as attacking options. Depay has only one year left on his contract and he is supposedly surplus to requirements for Xavi.

Memphis Depay is currently in America for Barcelona's Pre-season tour. Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla are the two clubs who have been offered a chance to sign the Dutchman. He has only one year left on his current contract and should be available for around €15m. He is still only 28 years of age and has a lot of football left in him. If fit, Depay can be a valuable addition to any team in the world. Tottenham have already completed 6 incredible signings this summer and Depay would be the icing on the cake. Sevilla on the other hand need a forward after they decided not to renew Anthony Martial's loan deal.
