Lewandowski Leads Barca’s Charge vs Dortmund

Barcelona’s successful start to life under Hansi Flick has been largely attributed to Robert Lewandowski’s comeback. The striker will return to Dortmund on Wednesday to play Borussia in the Champions League.

With 23 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this season, the 36-year-old Pole has propelled Barcelona to the top of the Spanish league and up to third place in the European rankings.

Prior to their encounter in Germany, it leads Dortmund, the Champions League finalist from the previous year, who, like Barcelona, has won four of their past five games on goal differential.

Between 2010 and 2014, Lewandowski gained experience playing in the top division of European football with Dortmund, leading the team to the 2013 final before losing to rivals Bayern Munich at Wembley.

He joined Bayern a year later, and in 2020, he eventually won the Champions League with them.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022, and following a successful debut season, he struggled in the previous year.

Prior to a recent slump in performance, Flick’s arrival gave the team and the seasoned striker new life, and both have prospered.

When Barcelona defeated Brest 3-0 in November, Lewandowski scored his 100th Champions League goal. He is only behind former Barcelona star Lionel Messi and all-time leading goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lewandowski has seven goals from five games, two more than any other player, making him the top scorer in both Spain and the Champions League.

Lewandowski has a disadvantage to Barcelona’s lineup despite his deadly goal-scoring ability.

Even though the Pole’s work ethic has decreased, Flick has supported Lewandowski since coming, the coach thinks.

Earlier in the season, the coach declared, “Robert is a true professional player, working hard on his fitness, this body he has, it’s not this age.”

Dortmund supporters will be afraid of the return of the devastating forward who donned Dortmund’s colors ten years ago because Lewandowski has reversed the years under Flick after some disappointing performances last season.
