India rattles Bazball on Day 3 of the third test

(Cricket news) After an intriguing second day of the test match, the English batters had no answers to the consistent bowling from the Indian attack on the third day at Rajkot. The England team were bowled out in less than 2 sessions, managing to add only 112 runs to their overnight score.

Starting day 3, England had a decent start, managing to survive the initial burst from the Indian attack. However Joe Root’s dismissal, who reverse scooped it to slip, off Bumrah opened the floodgates for an India come back. Jonny Bairstow soon followed Root, after being trapped in front by Kuldeep who bowled exceptionally in the 2nd innings.

Duckett and skipper Stokes tried to pull back things for the visitors, but it was only short-lived as the former was held at covers off a half-tracker from Kuldeep to reduce England to 260/5. Ben Stokes on the other hand fell into Jadeja’s trap who forced him for a big heap over long on and was caught by Bumrah.

It was then Mohammad Siraj who once again displayed his class act, cleaning up the England lower order with a wonderful spell of fast bowling. England were bowled out for 319, loosing their last 8 wickets for just 95 runs.

Coming into bat with a 126-run lead, the Indian batters showed a solid display. Although Rohit was dismissed early, Yashashvi Jaiswal brought up his 2nd century of the series in an enthralling display of batting, shifting gears post his half century. Shubhman Gill on the other hand scored a wonderful half century and held one end.

India however suffered a couple of blows late in the day. Jaiswal was retired hurt, with some issues in his back, which was followed by the dismissal of Patidar, who once again failed to score.

Brief Scores: India: 445 (Rohit Sharma 131, Ravindra Jadeja 112, Sarfaraz Khan 62; Mark Wood 4-114) & 196/2 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 104 retd hurt, Shubman Gill 65*) England: 319 all out (Ben Duckett 153; Mohammad Siraj 4-84); India lead by 322 runs
