Serie A hits and misses for the 2021/22 mid season

(Football news) With the defending Champions Inter leading the Scudetto race after an unbelievable two months after the international break, AC Milan and Napoli will feel undone as they went 11 matches unbeaten without much to show for. Inter have currently got a four point lead over their city rival but with the half of the season remaining anything could happen. Let us take a look at the best manager, best player and best team till now.

Best teams:

Many Inter fans questioned the appointment of Simone Inzaghi and the recruitment policy of the club but in hindsight both the decisions have paid off wonderfully for the defending Champions. So far this season, Inter have shown no signs of struggle within the final third and are currently the best offensive team in the league with 49 goals in 19 games. Inter have also managed to maintain structure and organization under the 3-5-2 formation as the Nerazzurri have only conceded 15 goals in 19 games. In addition to that they have qualified for the round of 16 for the first time since 2010 as they are performing even better than last season. Edin Dezko who came into the club on a free transfer has filled the Romelu Lukaku void with ease as he along with Lautaro Martinez are forming a deadly duo.

Best Player:

Since the start of the season, many football fans have questioned whether or not Dusan Vlahovic was capable of maintaining the bar he has set for himself after last season. As it stands, Vlahovic has proven each and every one of his doubters wrong. The young Serbian striker has managed to obtain 16 goals and 2 assists in 19 games, making himself the leading goal scorer so far within the Serie A. In addition to that the talisman has managed to score 34 Serie A goals within a calendar year, surpassing the 33-goal record set by the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. There is no doubt that Vlahovic is on course to becoming a world-class striker as the Serbian has managed to become the focal point of Fiorentina’s attack through his excellent composure in front of goal and clinical finishing and arguably been the best individual player in the Serie A till now.

Best Manager:

Simone Inzaghi has proven his doubters this season by taking over his predecessor Antonio Conte with ease as he sees his high flying Inter with a four point lead over their city rivals AC Milan. Since his recent arrival, the Italian tactician has drifted away from Conte’s calculated defensive style and has implemented a philosophy that involves free attacking football. As a result of his adjustments, Inzaghi has managed to get his Inter squad playing an exciting, fast-paced possessive style of football and has allowed his players to flourish on the pitch. With Inter currently possessing two more points compared to Conte’s Inter side at the same time last season, Inzaghi is on track to being Inter’s best appointment since the departure of José Mourinho

Misses of the season

Juventus have been the most disappointing team this season, Allegri’s side have been far too inconstient for their liking. This season they have lost five and drawn four matches in the 19 matches that they have played, which subsequently means that they are four points adrift from high flying Atalanta in fourth place. For Juve fans their expectation was of course going to challenge for the Scudetto this season after Pirlo couldn’t guide them to their 8th successive Serie A title. This season another title challenge looks very unlikely and their best bet this season could be the Champions League and coming fourth in the league. With the sudden departure of Cristiano Ronaldo they are missing an out and out goal scorer as they have scored only 27 goals this season which has mostly led to their downfall this season.
