Liverpool and Man City hope to keep momentum in the Premier League

(Football news) Liverpool will be facing Watford at Anfield today after a lengthy international break. Despite 16 places and 47 points separating the two sides, three points are not guaranteed for the hosts as Roy Hodgson’s team are currently fighting for survival while Jurgen Klopp’s team need to keep pace with Manchester City.

In team news, Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and remains doubtful for the fixture alongside Naby Keita. James Milner and Andy Robertson are available for selection after recovering from COVID-19 while Klopp may keep Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane due to their involvement in the World Cup qualifiers.

As for Watford, Jeremy Ngakia is available for selection while Nicolas Nkoulou could also find a place in the squad. Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis will join Hernandez in the final third while  Ismaila Sarr could also force his way into the starting XI. Liverpool should be able to secure the three points from this fixture and apply pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, reigning champions and league leaders Manchester City will take on relegation-threatened Burnley at the Turf Moor. The Clarets will be missing Nathan Collins due to suspension while Ben Mee is still injured which means Kevin Long could get his first Premier League appearance.

As for Manchester City, they are without the services of Ruben Dias and Cole Palmer while Benjamin Mendy remains suspended. Ederson has recovered from illness while John Stones and Raheem Sterling could also start the match. Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Sterling could feature in the front three while Jack Grealish could be dropped on the bench. Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are expected to feature in midfield.
