Kroos-Casemiro-Modric continue to scale new heights

(Football news) Real Madrid on Wednesday defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup. It was a comfortable victory for Los Blancos who dominated the entire game. Real Madrid's legendary midfield of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro once again ran the show. Casemiro was the man of the match for his excellent performance which included an assist for the first goal. Kroos and Modric as usual dictated the play in exemplary fashion. Real Madrid's midfield trio has been dominating world football for 6 years now and are showing no signs of slowing down.

Real Madrid have 3 young midfielders in the form of Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni but Ancelotti went with the old guards for the first big game of the season. It will be interesting to see if there are more rotations by Ancelotti this season because the midfield depth at Madrid is incredible. Modric is 36 years old while Kroos is 32 and both are in the final year of their contracts. Casemiro is still younger and has more years left. Their performances on the pitch do not reflect their age at all. The trio have played so many games together under 4 different managers and they always complement each other really well.

Going forward Madrid will definitely have to give their younger midfielders more chances but when it comes to big games then Kroos, Casemiro and Modric are definitely reliable as ever. Real Madrid's next game is the La Liga opener against newly promoted side Almeria. Carlo Ancelotti has already said that he will be making a few changes to the side. It is very likely that he starts a different combination in midfield which will give the team much more energy. This might be the last season where the legendary midfield trio plays together and Real Madrid fans will be hoping that they can win a couple more trophies.
