Bundesliga: Bayern take on Dortmund in the Der Klassiker classic

(Football news) Bayern Munich know that if they win against Dortmund in Germany’s biggest derby then they will secure their 10th successive Bundesliga title. Julian Nagelsmann's side are nine points clear at the top of the table, and have presented themselves with the opportunity to regain their Bundesliga crown against their main rivals. Bayern may not have had the best of season and have been anywhere near their best over recent weeks, with their shock Champions League exit to Villarreal and then stumbling over the line at home to struggling Augsburg. With Bayern one thing is almost guaranteed with this club is their ability to turn up  against Dortmund.

It has been three years since Bayern were defeated by BVB, and five years since Dortmund defeated them on home soil, as the Bavarian side have recorded some comprehensive victories at the Allianz Arena along the way. Nagelsmann will be hoping that his players don’t become too complacent and hopefully be looking to seal their inevitable title win in style. Last week, Axel Witsel, Manuel Akanji and Emre Can all got themselves on the scoresheet for Dortmund, but while finding the back of the net was not an issue, it is their shaky back line that is likely to be the biggest of their concerns this weekend as they have conceded a lot of goals against Robert Lewandowski and co.

If Dortmund can sure up their defence then they could stand a chance of frustrating their hosts, and should they manage to achieve an unlikely victory, then there will be a glimmer of hope that the title race could be extended for another week. For Bayern, Corentin Tolisso and Bouna Sarr will miss the title-deciding clash due to hamstring and knee injuries respectively. For Dortmund, Mahmoud Dahoud, Thomas Meunier, Mateu Morey, Marcel Schmelzer, Giovanni Reyna, Steffen Tigges and Witsel are all ruled out, as Donyell Malen and Thorgan Hazard are labelled as doubtful.

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:

Neuer; Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Muller, Coman; Lewandowski

Borussia Dortmund possible starting lineup:

Hitz; Pongracic, Akanji, Zagadou; Wolf, Bellingham, Can, Guerreiro; Brandt, Reus; Haaland
