Barcelona vs Sevilla to headline La Liga’s return after Internationals

(Football news) After two weeks of International football, La Liga is back for what will be a very important last period of the league. Real Madrid still have a 9 point lead at the top of the table but these 9 remaining games are going to be very crucial with Sevilla and Barcelona on their tail while Atletico Madrid could also make a late charge at the title.

After the El Clasico embarrassment last time around, Real Madrid will look to bounce back away at Celta Vigo. This time around however they will have Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy back in the side while Vinicius Jr will also be fresh and ready to go after arriving early from international duty. Toni Kroos is a doubt due to illness along with Luka Jovic and Isco. After recent surgery, Eden Hazard is out for the rest of the season. Celta Vigo are comfortably sitting 11th on the La Liga table. Real Madrid simply can't afford to lose this game because they have a lot of tough ones coming up. Carlo Ancelotti will also have one eye on the UCL clash against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Atletico Madrid will host Deportivo Alaves to try and continue their impressive run of form. After a tough start, the defending champions have recovered well. They are in the quarterfinals of the UCL and are on the right path to secure a top 4 spot. Angel Correa and Koke are suspended for the clash while Mario Hermoso and Hector Herrera are injured. Atleti will definitely be thinking of the Manchester City game but they also have to win this one to keep their place in the top 4.

Barcelona are on a dream run form wise and their 4-0 away at Real Madrid has boosted their confidence to another level. The Blaugrana will have a tough task of going up against 2nd placed Sevilla. A win would take Barca level on points with Sevilla with a game in hand. Ansu Fati and Samuel Umtiti have returned to training but may not be able to play just yet while Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto are also out of contention. Nico Gonzalez on the other hand is a doubt due to illness. Sevilla's form has dipped a lot in the past month or so, hence Julen Lopetegui will be looking to bounce back with a win. Fernando, Yassine Bounou, Thomas Delaney, Rafa Mir, Marcos Acuna, Suso, Karim Rekik and Alejandro Gomez are all unavailable for Sevilla.
