(Football news) Barcelona will look to brush off their 1-1 disappointing draw against Eintracht  Frankfurt in the first leg and qualify to the Europa League semi finals. The two sides played out an entertaining 1-1 at the Deutsche Bank Park last week and are vying for the chance to meet either West Ham United or Lyon in the semi-finals. Barcelona are now unbeaten in 15 matches across all competitions which is a remarkable contrast to the unforgettable days under Ronald Koeman’s management. The Catalans have only been eliminated once in continental ties when avoiding defeat in the first leg and the Frankfurt manager will certainly rue the missed chances that his side missed in the first leg

La Blaugrana are welcoming Eintracht Frankfurt to the Camp Nou where they have kept four clean sheets since the 1-1 draw with Napoli in the last-32 and now if they win it will be their first Europa League win on home soil since 2004. The second leg will also mark Eintracht’s first-ever trip to Camp Nou for a competitive clash, while Die Adler have strung together a nine-game unbeaten run against Spanish sides, but beating Barcelona will be difficult considering they have only lost twice at home in 16 meetings with clubs from the Bundesliga.

West Ham are on the verge of making history if they can beat Lyon at the Groupama Stadium. West Ham will be disappointed that they couldn’t get more goals in the first leg but on the other hand the Hammers will be satisfied also that they didn’t concede more goals after Aaron Cresswell’s red card. Lyon are still waiting for their first taste of success in the Europa League as they look to seal a semi-final spot for the first time since 2016-17. They are coming into the second leg on the back of a five-game unbeaten run, with four of them ending in draws.

Only one of Lyon's last six games have ended in victory, but on the other hand they are one of only two sides who are yet to lose in this season's tournament and West Ham are not too high on confidence themselves as Lyon take full advantage of this situation. West Ham's European hopes are fading away after they just won three games from nine since the start of March – all of which have come at home. 

Defeat at Brentford last week meant that it was their fifth loss in a row for West Ham away from home during which time they have only managed to score twice but going into the match Lyon have many key players injured, which could be a slight advantage to the Hammers. However, West Ham have been eliminated from Europe on each of the last three occasions as David Moyes hopes to change this unfortunate stat.
