Dembele, Depay, Aubameyang lead Barcelona to a 3-1 victory over Celta

(Football news) After securing their qualification for the UCL, Barcelona put in an excellent performance to win 3-1 at the Nou Camp against 11th placed Celta Vigo. It has been a very difficult season for the Blaugrana but there has been an improvement as Barcelona are virtually guaranteed to finish 2nd on the league table which didn't seem likely at one point. Xavi tried a brand new system as Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres played on the wing with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front and Memphis Depay in the number 10 role.

The system worked wonders as Barcelona scored 2 goals in the first half. The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Dembele charged through the right wing before playing a ball across goal which was taped in by Depay. 11 minutes later the hosts doubled their advantage as Dembele set up Aubameyang to make it 2-0. 3 minutes into the 2nd half Dembele once again dazzled through the Celta defence and set up Aubameyang who made it 3-0 to the Blaugrana. The 3 goal advantage didn't last long as Iago Aspas who seems to always score against Barcelona pulled one back after a mistake by Ronald Araujo.

The comeback looked to be on the cards but Jeison Murillo was shown a straight red card for a foul on Depay in the 58th minute. Ronald Araujo was taken off in an ambulance after a clash of heads which are really worrying signs. Ricky Puig got a rare appearance as he was subbed in at half time. The Spaniard did score a goal but it was ruled out for offside. The two remaining matches may just be formality for Barcelona but it allows Ousmane Dembele to secure the award for most assists in La Liga as he now has 2 more than Karim Benzema despite missing 16 games.
