Barça Backs Nagelsmann’s Plea

After coach Julian Nagelsmann voiced his displeasure with La Liga’s scheduling, Barcelona publicly backed him.  By issuing an official statement just one hour prior to their match against Celta at Montjuïc, the Catalan team has chosen to escalate its issues.  They stressed in their statement that they have frequently expressed their displeasure with the standards established by La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation regarding the schedule of their first team’s games.  A “formal complaint” will be made about these schedule conflicts, as the club has stated.

Barcelona supports Nagelsmann’s position, as he has been outspoken about the disregard for Spanish football officials.  This is especially clear from the Valladolid vs. Barcelona schedule, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 4th at 2:00 PM.  However, La Liga chose to reschedule the game for Saturday, May 3rd at 9:00 PM after it was revealed that Barcelona would play Inter in Milan on May 6th.

“There should be more careful consideration for teams participating in the crucial final stages of the season,” said Barcelona.  “This issue is longstanding, and the club will continue to advocate for its interests in discussions with both national and international governing bodies to ensure a more logical calendar for fixtures.”
