Australia complete a comprehensive win over West Indies

(Cricket news) After ending Day 2, having an upper hand on the game, Australia completed a clinical win over the West Indies in the very first session of Day 3. Australia thumped West Indies by 10 wickets in Adelaide to take 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

Finishing Day 2 at 73/6 in their second innings, West Indies needed nothing short of a miracle to escape Australia’s wrath. Although Joshua De Silva and Alzarri Joseph bide some time in the middle against the Aussie attack it was just a matter of time before they faltered.

It just took over an hour for the lethal Aussie attack to wrap up the West Indian tail in the morning session of the third day. Mitchell Starc led the attack in the morning session taking wickets of Joshua De Silva and Alzarri Joseph and ensuring that West Indies get not chance to come back in the game.

Josh Hazlewood knocked back Gudakesh Motie’s off-stump to complete his fifer, allowing himself with another chance to hold up the match ball. Shamar Joseph in his dream debut again showed some resilience and took West Indies to a 25 run lead avoiding an innings defeat. He scored a couple of boundaries off Hazlewood, and added a brisk 26-run stand with Keemar Roach before Lyon had his number for the second time in the game.

Usman Khwaja suffered a concussion and was retired hurt just as Australia levelled the scored, after being hit by a well directed bouncer from Shamar Joseph. However it just took Australia 6.4 overs to complete the formalities and wrap up the game in under seven sessions and take an unassailable 1-0 lead.
