England Cricket Board raised the match fees for England Women to align them with the match fees of England Men

(Cricket News) England’s women cricketers will now receive equal pay to their male counterparts, following “record-breaking crowds” during the Women’s Ashes series.

Heather Knight, captain of the England women’s team, lauded the England Cricket Board’s (ECB) decision as “fantastic.” She emphasized the importance of advancing the women’s game and creating a sustainable and appealing product for both viewers and players. Knight also expressed gratitude to the PCA and England Women’s Player Partnership for their support in this initiative.

This pay adjustment will be immediately effective, commencing with the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka.

Richard Gould, CEO of the ECB, highlighted the rapid growth of women’s cricket in the country, evident in the thrilling Metro Bank Women’s Ashes series, which saw record attendances and TV viewership. He emphasized the ECB’s commitment to expanding the women’s and girls’ game, with increased investments in developing a strong domestic women’s structure and enhancing player rewards in recent years.

In the coming years, we will maintain our commitment to invest in advance of generating revenue. While we are currently reviewing all the recommendations presented by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket, we are pleased to take the immediate step of equalizing match fees.

Our collective goal is to establish cricket as the preferred team sport for female athletes. With the investments we are injecting into the sport and the increasingly lucrative opportunities emerging worldwide, we are witnessing female cricketers rise as some of the highest-earning athletes in team sports within the UK. Nevertheless, we recognize that there is still a significant journey ahead as we work towards achieving complete equality across the entire cricket landscape.

As we continue to nurture women’s cricket, our focus remains on making well-considered investments that reach extensively throughout the structures of women’s cricket. Our aim is to create a thriving, financially successful, and sustainable game that is well-prepared for the future.
