(Football news) After a January trade from Roma to Bournemouth fell through, the 24-year-old forward only relocated to Turkey in February. Instead, he committed to the Istanbul giants for four and a half years.

Zaniolo, who scored five goals in ten league games to help Galatasaray win their first Turkish Super Lig championship in four years, is about to quit the team barely six months after joining.

Zaniolo has been chosen by head coach Unai Emery and president of football operations Monchi as Villa’s replacement for the injured Emi Buendia.

In fact, Emery has previously mentioned Zaniolo’s abilities and what he may contribute to his team.

“Zaniolo is not a striker. He is versatile,” the boss said. “He can play as a striker, a number seven or a number 10 and he is one of those on our list, with the qualities he has, to help us.”

Villa has reached an agreement for a loan in which they will pay a £3.4 million loan charge up front and then have the opportunity to convert the arrangement into a permanent one for an additional £23.2 million. However, there is a provision in the agreement that makes the purchase also required.

In order to potentially be available to make his Villa debut against Everton this weekend, Zaniolo is scheduled for a medical in Birmingham on Wednesday.
