(Football news) Kepa Arrizabalaga, a custodian on loan from Real Madrid, is looking to make the transfer there permanent after being formally welcomed by the team.

Kepa finished his season-long loan transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid on August 14. There were no formal provisions referencing potential future concerns, such as an option or requirement to make the transfer permanent. Kepa has dealt with Real Madrid before, but this time it’s on loan. He was just about to go from Athletic to Madrid in January 2018. Later that year, though, a change in plans led Madrid to sign Courtois instead.

The most expensive custodian contract at the time was Kepa’s record-breaking â80 million ($87.6m) move to Chelsea to replace Courtois. Kepa’s five years at Chelsea were difficult, but they were also filled with noteworthy accomplishments.

He was a member of the squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and UEFA Europa League in addition to the UEFA Champions League in 2020–21, 2020–21, and 2018–19, respectively. Kepa is currently filling in for Thibaut Courtois at Real Madrid once more owing to Courtois’ ACL injury. Fans and football aficionados will be closely watching his performance in the Spanish capital as he begins this new chapter in his career.

According to Madrid Universal, Kepa stated during his presentation that he was ready to take on the challenge and was proud to be a member of Los Blancos.

“It is a very happy and special day for me and for all my family. Proud to be part of Real Madrid. A day to enjoy and share with those closest to me.”

“I’m more experienced, in one of the best moments of my career. I am ready to face this challenge and, as I said before, I assure commitment and hard work,” he added.

When asked if he hopes to make the move to Real Madrid a permanent one, Kepa said he is planning to make that happen with his performances.

“I hope so. Today is the first day of my loan. We have time, we will see. Hopefully, with my performance, I can make that happen.
